Overview
A floribunda is defined by its inflorescence: rather than one terminal flower per stem, it bears clusters of many smaller blooms, and that clustering, combined with strong repeat flowering, gives the long display from late spring through fall. The plants are shorter and bushier than hybrid teas, which is why they function as massing shrubs in beds, borders, and low informal hedges.
Its value as a landscape shrub rests on a workable size and broad hardiness. A mature plant holds at roughly 2.5 to 3 feet (76 to 91 cm) in height and spread, performs across zone 5 to zone 9, and shows better disease tolerance than most older roses. It remains a modern rose, though, so it depends on regular feeding, an annual renewal prune, and monitoring for black spot to perform well.
The practical drawback is armature. The canes and prickles can lacerate skin, so siting the plant clear of traffic, where no one brushes the foliage, preserves the long bloom without the injury.
Care

Black spots with a yellow halo and premature leaf drop
These lesions are black spot, caused by Diplocarpon rosae, the most common rose disease, which is favored by humid, wet weather and overhead watering that keep leaves wet long enough for spores to germinate. Remove marked leaves as they appear, switch irrigation to the base, and rake up fallen leaves in autumn, since the fungus overwinters on that debris. Resistant cultivars and adequate spacing break the infection cycle over the longer term.
